Did you know that Lubbock is at the forefront of the Texas art scene? It’s thanks in part to the First Friday Art Trail, a fun (and absolutely free) showcase of art in the Cultural District’s downtown galleries, museums and art centers. The progressive, peripatetic parade of public art – in the form of photography, paintings, sculpture and more – is on view the first Friday of every month, natch. Grab a map to explore on your own or hop aboard the free First Friday trolley with fellow collectors, artists and art aficionados for a self-guided tour of more than a dozen art-centric spaces, from the Lubbock Arts Alliance to the Buddy Holly Center. And don’t forget to snap a selfie in front of Holly’s iconic, oversized eyeglasses out front.
Address: Begin at LHUCA at 511 Avenue K or anywhere along the Art Trail.
